Whiteboards are the ne plus ultra of the KISS principle (Keep it simple, sweetie!). An old school whiteboard re-attached to the back of the kitchen door holds menus, appointments and to-do lists for summertime. There are dozens of tutorials for pretty "Kitchen Command Centers" online, and I've pinned more than a few. This system has worked so well for our family that I may upgrade to a designer version in the fall, but this old board is serving me well for the summer when I'd rather be outdoors.

I wish I had a big enough spot on my wall for one of these that would be in a central place, but I don't so instead I like using a large block month at a glance calendar and marking it in pencil (so I can erase appointments that get changed or cancelled) and then I have put it in a place where all the family will see it several times a day (dropping by from WFMW)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, too. This board is only 24" x 36", so it fits on our door. During the school year it holds menus, appointments, and a project of the day. In the summer, I'm able to manage using just this whiteboard and our family calendar.

My mom has always done this with great success. We don't have a good spot in our kitchen for a big whiteboard, but we're going to be starting this soon!
